My First Buck
« on: November 07, 2013, 11:05:11 PM »
I had been hunting all day around our farm. Never seen a single deer, I seen plenty of tracks, but nothing fresh enough to chase. I decided to head back, got in the car and right there in the yard was a doe and this little buck eating apples. I pulled in the driveway, and leaned over the hood of the car. My shot was a little high on the front shoulder, but my Wearherby Vanguard chambered in 7mm-08 Rem. put him down not 10 yards from where stood. He didn't know what hit him and the 120gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip tore clear through. It isn't a trophy, but it's meat in the freezer, my first buck, and proof that hard work pays off.

Congrats and any blacktail is a trophy

Congrats young man that's just awesome!
It looks like a spitting image of my brothers first buck he shot in National just on the south side of the Nisqually river, he got so excited that he threw the guts on his rifle and didn't know it!! Lol!

Killer job buddy.
There has yet to be a buck that hasnt taught me something. Dont think he is not a trophy. He is a first. There will be many more, and each will remain a trophy in their own way!

Great job on your first deer! May it be the beginning of a life long passion and passed down to your future family!!

"HOYT" why would you even consider shooting something else?
