I have had 2 really good spring bears. All of mine have been better then the fall bears I have taken. Seems like the fall bears are greasy to me. I am sure diet is what makes the difference. If they get into skunk cabbage I am sure they can get nasty :chuckle:

I am back to zero as well this year, plus MrMykiss killed MY bear so I don't have much hope for this year :chuckle:   I would like to find this dude again though!  I don't know how old he is but his damn muzzle is all grey and talk about sway back and potbellied! If the blonde sow keeps that color she would eat a bullet this year though!
My bad yo :sry:

Haha!!!  I'm glad you killed that beast!  If I didn't want him dead I wouldn't have sent you the map!  No shortage of bears in that spot.  I hope you pet him from time to time just for me  :chuckle:

I am thinking of putting in. I have 5 points. The problem I have is if I get drawn, I need someone to hunt with.
I no longer can hunt by myself. Of course, if I don't get drawn the point is moot and I will have 6 points next year.

No good bears left after last season....other than this one......

Why'd you have to remind me of this pic... I'll have to put in for Monroe again.

NorthSkagit, but I am starting to get cold feet.
I am not sure if I can shoot without hurting my shoulder.
I saw my physical therapist today and he was skeptical.
I checked my points and I have 6. Next year it will be 7.
I would love to hunt Sherman. I know where the bears are. When we used to deer hunt there, we called this one area bear condos. More than a dozen caves.

this little jerk chewed up a handful of my cameras over a few square mile area this summer.  got about 50 bears on camera in the area but its always this guy who does the chewing.  hell be chewing up camera "a" one day, and a couple days later hell be on camera "b" a couple miles away chewing that one..... went on all this spring / summer.  and i have the cams 12 feet up, so hes actually climbing the trees just to mess with them.  i dont care that hes small, if i draw a spring bear tag he better look out.

I have a question about whether or not it's wise to put in for group permits.

I have heard that if two hunters put in and the first has 3 points, and the second has 1 point, they are averaged out in the draw, (which would be 2 points) so they get 4 chances. I have heard that chances are points squared. Is this true?

If I put in as a group leader I'm assuming my buddy has to put in on my application, for my designated units, that he doesn't get to also choose 4 units and get an additional 4 chances, right?

By myself I would get 9, if the last paragraph were right, we would each have 4 chances, so a total of 8 - but thinking that is wrong.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you have three currently and your buddy has one this year you'll both get another point for putting in bringing you up to 4 and him to two. Thus makinging your group average 3 points each. Essentially 9 of each of your names in the hat. As a group leader you make the choices of which units to apply for and your buddy is stuck with the same choices. Once one of you is drawn you'll get the permits assuming there is two more available. If there is only one more permit leftover and one of your names comes up the you don't get any because you need two. Make sense?

I don't think both people get put in I believe its just the group leader.  Otherwise groups would have a huge advantage in the draw.

Yeah you may be right on that part. I don't know for sure though.
