Fishing poll
« on: November 12, 2008, 05:57:39 PM »
I am an anything person when it comes to fishing but I would like to know how many folks on this site choose one style over another.  Thanks, Patricia

Fell hard for fly fishing about 12 - 14 years ago and have done little else since. Not better, just different. For me it's somehow more satisfying.

Regards, Guy

I've done all three, but like bait fishing best.  Well, I like fly fishing a lot, but haven't caught anything that way.  Yet!

I used to flyfish almost exclusively.  However, with the popularity of it going up so much in the past 15-20 years I do other stuff more just to avoid the crowds.  I miss the solitude of the days when my 2 friends and I had the Sauk River to ourselves fishing for steelhead in March :'(

I prefer flyfishing, but most of all I like catching fish.  If they'll take flies, great.  If not, I'll go all the way down to soaking a bloody hunk of flesh on the bottom.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

I am not fishing bigot… I will use whatever for any kind of fish… now I know that this makes it hard, because there is some much to learn… but if someone were to call me tomorrow and say “Hey do you want to go noodling…?” I would probably say “Sure”

But… here is my Bio: Started fishing at 5 (bait and spinning), age 12 Gramps taught me to tie flies and fly fished (with spinning real and water bobber and a fly rod and reel), and on and on… fresh, salt, still, and moving waters….

I was even thing last week that it would have been totally cool to try and shoot a coho or old boot up at barrier dam last week…

Cheers

all growing up my dad was all over the place competing in BASS tournaments...so naturally he passed on the passion to me...so, I do use a lot of artificial lures...but I'm not above float'n a night crawler for anything else...

If I am fishing trout or steelhead I prefer to flyfish.  Especially for trout.  I will fish gear and bait for steelhead but I prefer to flyfish.  As for salmon.  Bait, bait and more bait.  I have caught salmon every which way but I love gettin kings and silvers on eggs, and wrapped plugs.
Tule, the other white meat.

When fishing bass, salmon, lake trout, and trout, I've gotta change to the lake and to the species.  I go with whatever works best.

I like fly fishing because I can tie my own flies, have access to some water others do not, and for catching them near the surface.  If I am using weighted line, or deep running wet flies, it feels like bait fishing anyways, and the mystique is gone, so then it is whatever method catches the most fish.
