I have a Howa/Hogue in 30-06. The gun is a great gun. I load ammo for it, and I can usually get around 3/4" groups. I love the gun for hunting, its easy to carry, good price, accurate gun. However, the hogue stock that it comes with is a very flimsy stock. I put a bipod on the stock and I could flex my stock easily to where it would touch the barrel. I started looking into getting a different stock for it, and unfortunately there are not a lot of choices for the Howa 1500 long action. I bought the gun when I first started getting into hunting and it was more than sufficient for what I needed to do then. But now, I have gotten into precision shooting, and am capable of taking a lot longer shots, and so I will be purchasing a different gun that will better fill this role. But I won't get rid of the Howa. Great gun, but if you have any plans of building it up at all, save your money and buy a Remington 700.
