Wolf sightings at Grayback
« on: March 01, 2014, 03:58:30 PM »
In the last 2 weeks there have been 3 separate sightings of what was thought to be a lone wolf south of Grayback Mtn.  Another person photographed tracks in the snow with a tape measure along side.  The track measured 4" wide.  Not in an area of stray dogs.
We knew they'd get here and it looks like at least one has.

Which Grayback mt are referring to? I know of two such MT's in Washington. Klickitat county and Pend Oreille county. The area in Pend Oreille has had sightings for several years.

Wolves have never fully been eliminated in the simcoes. They were just the original grey wolf not these new implants.

Skywagon, can you be more specific? Do you have the pictures? Where did you get this info? I live in the area and would like to check it out, try to get some pictures of it.

A friend has the pic of the track with tape measure.  I'll try to get it.
Sightings and tracks in snow have been within 2 miles of the top of the Leidle grade on the north side of Glenwood Highway.

:yeah: Yep not really a secret with local hunter or ranchers. Some of the folks who run their cattle in the Simcoes have seen a couple up there the last few years.

I saw a track up there 2 years ago, and also might have heard a howl...

I have had property on Satus Pass since 1992. I have never heard Wolves but have seen the evidence such as tracks and occasional kills. I have some experience with Wolves from being in Alberta for some time. I was also told by many long time residents that they did exist. I have also seen tracks on the boundary road heading west to the Grayback area.
