I grew up with labs my whole life.  About 3 years back, we went from two big labs to two French Bulldogs!  It was for my family and our need to downsize the mess and maintenence of owning two energetic labs.  It was a strange jump for me but I never thought I'd like these lpointless little snorty things like I do.  They are hilariously funny creatures.

I've got a little shake and p*ss dog (yorkie) to please the wif. He has ruined carpet, furniture, shoes, and more. Couldn't live without the little bast**d.

Don't sell your stock dog short.  I've had 4 labs and a German bird dog cross, the best hunting dog I ever had, Hudi, was a 3/4 border collie, 1/4 English shepherd.  Stock dogs are exceptionally smart, if you can take her hunting and she figures out you want to find birds - she'll find birds.

Hudi did not point, and would not retrieve a live grouse or pheasant; she would catch it, kill it with a head bite, then sit down and wait for you to pick it up.  If it was dead, she retrieved it to the hand.  In addition to upland, she was a great waterfowl retriever, and I've never seen a more gifted retriever on crippled divers.  I sure do miss her.

We have an indoor fluffy white drop kick dog now (bichon frise), took me a couple of years to fall for her.  Still feel like I need to shout "I'm not gay!" at the passing cars when I walk her.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
