S&W M&P VTAC 9. Any thoughts? Have shot one?
« on: April 01, 2014, 07:36:24 PM »
Im looking for a full size 9, and I really like the feel and the sights on the VTAC. Has anyone shot one? I recently shot a friends standard M&P 9 and thought the sights were horrible and the gun seemed pretty inaccurate. Has the vtac made any improvements?

thanks for any info
The deer are exactly where you find them, and no where you dont!

I've never shot one personally, but here is a pretty good review of one:

It's probably a good gun, but I'm sold on my FNHs.  So much so, that I now have an FNX-9, an FNP-40 (in dark earth color), and an FNX-45.  The main thing I like about my FNs is that they have a hammer, but if you like the striker-fired guns, (I don't--personal preference) FNH is now making the FNS series.  My FNX-9 came with 3 17-round magazines, and 4 backstraps that are simple to change.  The only downside is the lack of accessories for the FNH pistols, but I got a Galco holster for my 9 and 40, and for full size guns they are pretty compact as a carry gun, and I'm not a big person.  :twocents:
If it was easy, everybody would be doing it.

When Bernie Madoff did it, it's called a "Ponzi Scheme"
When Government does it, it's called "Social Security"

I have some experience with the Vtac M&P. Very good firearm, I love the fit, and sights. Shoots well for me.

I can't say much to the VTAC 9, but my MP45 turned into my favorite pistol after I did the Apex trigger and sear job on it. The trigger was pretty sloppy before and I figured, why not do the sear too, while I was in there. The sights on the VTAC look really nice, but that's secondary to a smooth, crisp trigger in my book. Maybe find one to pull the trigger and few times to see how it feels before the purchase? I think I'll be putting some Novak sights or something similar on mine in the next couple of months to finish the whole package.
