This is true, and I'll sure I'll set one or two, but I'm going first for spot and stalk.

When I drew WA, three years ago, I committed to the bow, passed on one in beginning of season around 150lbs, had a nice one at 20 yards at end of season about to shoot, but was winded. Ate that tag.

That's what I'm afraid of but that's why they call it hunting. I'm doing it for the experience and to learn more.
Good luck in Idaho can't wait to see your success pics. When does Idaho season start?

Starts April 15th. Discounted unit so I can take TWO bears at $31.75/each (non-resident). Still have to buy license though ($150ish).

Right. And because you can take two, you can smoke one off a bait, and still spot and stalk another.

That's a perfect way to go. And a lot of fun. How far of a drive is 9th for you to get there?

I am also going to try with my bow this year. I have taken 3 bears with my rifle so I would like to up the challenge level. Plus I love to spot-and-stalk hunt, so I am excited. I drew Wenaha, so it could be a HUGE challenge!!

Thanks! Yes, he was a pretty nice bear! I was thrilled with him. Took him in 2011 in the Lick Creek unit. Weighed in over 300 pounds and green scored just over 19 inches. Stalked him to about 75 yards with my rifle after seeing him on the next ridge. My most awesome hunt ever! I'm hoping for an even better one this year!

I'm very excited about it!! Can't wait. I'm also going to try some calling this year....I've never tried that with bears.

I've tried to do some recon in the area, but too much snow to get into my unit. Planning to scope it out again this weekend....things are just starting to green up where I live, so I'm hoping maybe some of the south slopes are greening up in the Wenaha too.

Good luck with your hunt!
