Sight tape calibration
« on: May 13, 2014, 08:33:56 AM »
Anyone know how the new spothogg sight tape calibration works?  It came with sight tape and two say calibration tape and have a 20 yard mark and then half way down shows all the different letters of the sight tapes.  There's no instruction online or with the sight. Thanks for any help!

Yeah its new I guess.  :dunno:  It seems I could get my 20 dialed to the 20 mark and then what ever letter 60 yards shoot at would be the letter of tape for my set up but well see this eve.

Get an www.archersadvantageonline.com membership ($12 a year), and enter all of your measurements on your bow they ask for, your sight type, arrow configuration, and arrow speed. It takes a little tinkering with to learn, but it's dead on once you get the hang of it. Simply print out the tape(s) it gives you and laminate them and stick them on your sight wheel accordingly.

More than likely. The 20 yard mark is where you start, you shoot at that. Then the rest is for tuning.

Once you have found your 20 yard mark (Where your 20 yard shots hit center), move to 30 - after adjusting alittle to find where it hits center for that, then go to 40 and do it again, mark the tape at each yardage.

Usually those come with like 40 different tapes with pre-determined ranges already printed, and based off where your yardage on your sight tape matches up, it will then tell you what tape to put on. My girl has a single pin that this has to be done with also.
One touch of nature makes the whole world kin.

So I got my sight WAY before I'll be getting my bow.  I've put the sight on my current set up I realized I could just line the pins or the sight I removed up with the tape marks.  But will it make a difference if my sight sits out way further from the peep?  Cause the Hogg father sit WAY further out than my previous sight.

I had the same confusion when I was sighting in my Hogg Father, like you said get it dialed at 20 then put the calibration scale on. From there its a guessing game at 60. I just went for the middle of the ball park and was 1 letter off, I lucked out. From there you will have a letter at 60yds, correlate that letter with the letter on the sheet. Then reset your sight to 20 yds and stick on the letter scale that matched your shooting, then you will be dialed all the way to 100 yds.

The sight is pretty amazing!

Let me know if you need more guidance!
