Neah Bay, questions
«
on:
May 17, 2014, 07:26:42 AM »
Got any advise for someone, wanting to go to Neah Bay for a few days fishing? The time frame I'm looking at is mid to late July and would be camping. Things to avoid, and just all around heads up at this point would be helpful. It's been many years since I was last there, I'm sure things have changed.

Neah bay is still Neah Bay. Not much has changed over the years. Camping is either at The Cape or Hobuck beach. Big salmon is a nice marina. Silvers should be doing good by the end of July. Put the beer cooler inside at night as there is alot of theft there. In fact, put any coolers inside, they come and steal the cooler and open it up once safely away from your campsite and take the beer and any food thats of value. I hit Neah 3-4 times a year. One of my favorite places to be.

Sounds about right
Buying the tribal pass, seems to help a bit.
LOCK EVERYTHING !!
Leave no poles or downriggers on the boat either even if sleeping in it.
I even take the chromies off my valve stems since they have been swiped before
watch out for big hungry sea lions
catch fish
have fun

Thanks for the responses, someone school me on the tribal pass? If late July is good for silvers, than when would be good for kings?

July on Kings when it opens
I know most people dont get the pass but I think it helps, makes them think your following their rules on their res
Entrance to the area and some parking areas require a Makah Recreation Pass, available in Neah Bay at the Makah Tribal Council, Warm House Cafe, Makah Marine, Big Salmon Fishing Resort, Washburn's General Store, Raven's Corner or the Makah Mini Mart. Permits cost $10 per car and they are valid for the calendar year during which they are purchased.

Tipke Manufacturing in Spokane makes a really cool foldable, aluminum cart. It's really handy out there and can hold a lot of stuff. They are a bit pricy but worth every penny, trust me.

I will be there one month from today...can't wait!
Can't urge strongly enough that you need to hide your coolers.
Another good option for camping is Snow Creek.
