Burbot in the columbia

Hello so I was just wondering if anyone has had any success in catching burbot in the Columbia preferably the upper Columbia I haven't heard of anyone catching them but i have found two big ones dead on the bank over the years, any help will do thank you oh and i will also take suggestions on places to try from the bank since I am boatless

I have caught a couple incidentally while trout fishing at Rufus Woods at the net pens. That was in the winter time when the water was cold. They bit on a crawler/marshmallow on the bottom.

Anywhere in lower Roosevelt with steep drop-offs to 100' in the winter time should be a good place to look.  Most of them that I've caught have been fishing for trout in the winter from shore but they are all little ones < 22" and the big ones are deeper and bite softer

They spawn in the spring though and will come much shallower.  Roosevelt and Bead Lake up north of Newport are the only places I know that have them around here.

We used to catch them at Banks lake using waterdogs.

Sullivan lake up by Ione has a lot of them in it. We have caught them in the north and south end of the lake. We have usually done better in the south end night fishing for them but most other people fish for them on the north end. A lot of people ice fish for them during the winter months as well.

I've actually forgotten about Chelan having Burbot.  Last one I've seen there was floating about 8-10 years ago.  I haven't heard of any being caught in a long time.

Spokane Arm has good numbers that's where we guide for them in the winter.

In summer fish deep, right at dusk and into the night. Heavy jigs, glow worms or skirts, a strip of old squaw, jig slow. I'm not sure what a deep hole in the Columbia, would be. But fishing in over 100', is common. The tactic's I stated are for lake fishing, I have yet to try a river for them.......

Lake Chelan still has burbot, fishing is best when it is cold and fish deep.

Stuck on the wet side but how do you rig for them?

Glow in the dark buzz bomb tipped with night crawlers or cut up fish jigged SLOW off the bottom.
