Crazy man. I remember you telling me about how you were going on this hunt. Time flies by too fast. But that's a memory for a lifetime

That's a lot of Hoyt gear for Bear Archery being a sponsor.  You'd think someone is trying to suck up to Cameron :chuckle:   Always thought it was strange you got a new Bear bow for a hunt with Cameron.  Hoyts were probably too expensive!

Sorry, just having a little fun  ;)
you just can't help your self can you.   Haters gonna hate. :chuckle:

Yes time does fly. As far the memories I will never forget and now all I want is to go back to Alaska. I wish our camera guy(Ty) didn't lose all the video and a lot of the pictures from this trip. He had some good videos of the hunting trip.

I brought the Bear and hunted with it for a couple days but was holding my Hoyt most of the trip!

Yeah, I saw you put the Bear up for sale right afterward.  Looked like someone got one heck of a deal!  Even if it was the 6" brace model.

That was probably too much speed for a Hoyt shooter to handle anyway :chuckle:

What's this about the videos and a lot of pictures getting lost?  Were they damaged or lost in transit?  That's horrible!

I've only met Cameron briefly a couple times.  But I got the impression he is a perfectionist.  I bet that didn't go over very well at all :yike:  Still sucks, but I guess even cameramen are human.

Can't blame a guy for holding on and hunting with what he is comfortable with.

Looks like you had a great time, Kodiak Island is a beautiful place and has some great hunting and fishing. Thanks for the write up and the pics!

That looks like Bare Creek that flows into the Ayakulik River? The only Bear Creek I know of flows into the Buskin just 4.5 miles out of town or is there a different Bear Creek on Kodiak Island? Or maybe that's a name the pilots gave it?

What if a guy is more comfortable with a Blacks Creek, Badlands or Kifaru pack instead of a Tensing?  Would it then be ok to use Badlands packs, camo and logo gear while filming "Tensing Hunt of a Lifetime"?

In that situation, hunting with Cameron, Bear Archery (who I only assume was a partial sponsor) must have known most of the guys would be shooting Hoyt.  But this seems to have been an unusual situation.  Unless they did not know Cameron was going to be the focus of the hunt, they had to know.  Odd business decision for sure!

I'm glad the OP had a good time and I've been enjoying the pictures and story.  Looking forward to reading more of the story and seeing more pictures

While we were waiting for Roy to get there we went for a short hike to check things out.  Not 400YDS in to the hike and 400yds away we spot a big brown bear just laying on the the hillside watching us walk through the thick brush, that was an erie feeling. I think we saw a total of five different bears on that hike, most of them a long way off. We did see a few does and a couple young bucks. We headed back so we could get ready for Roys arrival and set up the one boat that we did have. It was quite a chore due to the fact our pump was broke and I was the only one that had set up a inflatable boat but we did get it done.  Roy arrives and it's getting late. He wanted to get up the creek where he wants to set up camp and in a hurry. So we get both boats put together and loaded up with most of the gear for the 10 day trip, but there is not enough room for everyone. So they make the decision for Roy and Cam to head up in the two boats and leave Ty and I behind on the first trip. we did not know how far up the creek we wanted to camp so they went and left us behind thinking that they would be able to make it back down before dark to pick us up but that was not the case.

Not 100% on the name of the creek. That's what I remember them calling it. We were about 12.5 miles from Frazer lake.

Yep that sounds like Bare Creek that flows into the Ayakulik River. The first time I landed there was in the early 80's and the pilot was 18 years old and I was like 20. His dad flew out of Kodiak a month earlier and never returned so he and his mother were trying to run the flight service. He punctured the float while landing so we had to hurry and unload the plane as the float was taking on water. It was a 7 day trip that ended up being 12 days. lol

Beautiful part of the island, keep sending pictures and THANKS for your story.
