I use a mineral powder called racked up, but I have also used water softener salt and had real good results with both, the differance is one is endorsed by some celeberty hunter and the price is jacked up, my advice to you is go to your local feed store and buy a mineral block and put some sweet cob on top or molasis to help them find your site! I dont think it is what you are using it is your site location because I have used the trophy rock and the deer and elk devoured it, then dug out the ground where I had it. so think about site locations then try again, if you need any advice let me know

Lots of people use the salt with Selenium in it.  Buy it at feed stores.

Do you guys have much luck with salt? I haven't... Ive put 200 lbs of mineral salt over the last 3 years in a clearing about 10 yards from a good elk trail within 150 yards to a pond but haven't seemed to have much success. I typically dig 50lbs at a time into the dirt right before I think a good rain is coming. Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would help.

The poor little deer at Stehekin love all the blocks that are set out on stumps. They don't care if you watch them licking it

Have you been checking for fresh sign (tracks, droppings)? My instinct is to not dig it in too deep, maybe that's it.

try a more secluded location where the animals feel safer, in a clearcut or meadow maybe to open for comfort, I try to put my sites out where you have a main trail intersection or a well used path. I dont put it right on the path usually about 10 or so feet off of it. I use to put one on the edge of a alfalfa field but I only got a handful of pic's or night pics, then I started putting them back on their travel areas and they are there continuesly, also they stay longer, so try moving your site out of the clearcut into a stand of trees with some good trails, good luck and if you need anything let me know
