New rig 1976 ford highboy
« on: July 07, 2014, 10:07:38 PM »
So I bough this new truck 76 ford f250 stock highboy extras. It's an awesome truck I love it! I was looking on the VIN and could not find anything about it. The internet says it has never existed. Any tips?

:) :) is it a "total, that haas been rebuilt?

Or maybe a wrecking yards assembled truck?

I had a 72 new 3/4ton f-250 (we never called them 'hi-boys') yours does not seem to sit right in the pics, I am sure mine was quite alot higher stock. :dunno:

either way if you like you like it!!     :chuckle: :chuckle: should have read the link first, it is lower setting than the 72.

 I love the high boys! I will hopefully own one again some day. Yours does seem to sit a little low for a high boy, and is missing the "high boy"
Emblem, does it have one on the dash?

Either way sweet truck!!

Ford has never had a "highboy" emblem. The highboy name came from lineman who would use the F250 to get to deeper parts of woodlands to work wire. So it's not missing an it. And it does look a little low in the picture. I'm 6'5" and I need a little jump to get in so I can promise it sits high. It has never been wrecked or junked so I'm still baffled as to why the vin is wrong, it's on the title too

Hey TJ, it is a nice truck. The number......, you gotta keep in mind a bunch of clerks are in charge of the numbers and they might have made a mistake.
You are correct, there never was any "hi-boy" decal sticker or what ever from Ford.
You have a nice old truck, COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What else is there?
MY old 72 was a 360 from the factory, replaced it with a cammed up, 390 with headers and a 4 barrel Holley, was a great truck. 12.50 X 15 BF goodrich TA's, and RED.

I stand corrected.

I owned a 77' ford f-250, that had "highboy" emblems under the F-250 emblems and on the dash. I guess the guy who had it before me added them. And come to think of it...I was 16 at the time and all I knew was the truck was cool  :IBCOOL:

Thanks for the good info everybody!

Regards,
H&F

Fordification.com, that's where you can decode a vin. Have done it myself. Love the old fords.
