Poll

Your thoughts while archery hunting and just looking to fill your tag

He's pretty tall, got to be at least a 3pt, eye guard is bonus.... shoot
Eye guard looks like an inch ...shoot
Better not, because I'm just not sure... pass
Definitely not legal pass

Poll: Who would shoot as a legal buck in 3pt min area

Took this pic yesterday, got me wondering how guys would read this in the field or how safe this buck would be come season.  Thought I'd start my first poll....

I did not vote because none of the shoot options you listed make it clear that it is a legal buck, which by the photo i would be.

That eye guard is just fine, and if i am archery hunting i would of been waiting this part of the field out so i would of seen him for awhile and at a few angles so i would also know if he is a 3 on that one side.

I hunt an area very similar to this and knowing were the deer enter or exit a field i often setup and wait, so i get to see some of them for a while.

Assuming i have looked him over and he is a 3 i'm letting the air out of him.
Or i have looked him over and he is only a 2 on that side, but with that eye guard again i'm letting the air out of him...

To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

He looks like a forky on the left side with a half inch eyeguard. The other side may be a spike with a smaller eyeguard. If it's a 3 pt area I'd pass even if he did have the 3rd point just because I know there's a better buck out there. I wouldn't fault anyone who shot it if it's legal. That's some good vittles right there. A trophy for anybody that's hungry!

I am not 100% on the eyeguard. I pass on that particular shot.

I modified to be clear this is a 3pt area.  The responses so far are just what I'm looking for.  One guys says eye guard is good so shoot, next guy says not good.

What say you?

I wouldn't shoot him if that eye guard was 6 inches long.

So you're not a fan of culling the undesirables?  :chuckle:

I am a meat hunter. You could hang your wedding ring on that eye guard.

I'm not sure about that eye guard so I will pass. If the eye guard was a little longer I would take the shot.
