I bow hunt bud.

Been the same for the modern "quality" guys for years as well, don't think you are the only one!
I don't follow the modern season too closely, but you're saying they have given out permits that weren't in the regs after the draw has taken place?  Haven't heard of that.  I'm irritated because I applied and drew a permit that had at most 15 in guys in one unit hunting deer with their bows.  It might not make much of a difference and I really shouldn't be surprised by the decision the wdfw made.  Just makes more sense to put the doe hunts after all the quality hunts have taken place.  Doubt these new permit holders will even leave the road so probably won't affect my hunt much anyways.

This is a bunch of crap!  So I apply for a permit that puts me in a unit with 14 other hunters to hunt for a quality buck.  Now there will be a bunch of people running around with us in there during this time frame??  Why the frig would they put it the same time as the quality hunt?  I wonder if they'd like to give me my points back?  These guys making decisions at wdfw are idiots.  They couldn't care less about the people buying licenses in this state outside of their money.

it sucks for the quality hunt guys. limited unburnt area and 1000 other people potentially... instead of 14

I received the same email: if anyone is against the hunt for these animals, the best way to protest would be to purchase the tag then burn it/not hunt.
And give them more money for free???    :lol4: :lol4: :lol4: :lol4: :lol4:

My family will happily purchase and "eat" three of these permits, unless we spot a whitetail doe.  It's not a laughing matter to us.  I'd do the same if it were twice the price.
And it's not giving them money for free.  I'm expressing my convictions.  I'll be doing it in writing as well.

if you don't agree with the permit hunt why purchase the second deer tag? you don't have to... and if you don't you get your points back  :twocents:

To allow the hunters to hunt the Chiliwist late bow permit is completely ridiculous.  If I had the tag, I'd say give my points back.  WDFW shouldn't even give them the option, and also, any hunter who would want that tag after the mess up there is nuts. :twocents:

Change your camo.  (buy winter and roll around in the dirt a bit)  Should be perfect.

Better do it this year as opposed to next.   The deer will migrate in this year.  Next year they wont be there to migrate.

The next big surprise is gonna be that the doe permits are any weapon.  I hope they at least make them use a bow during the 21-30 season.  I'm skeptical though.  Wdfw's track record isn't good...I'll cross my fingers.

They will have to use the weapon in compliance with the special permit they put in. So as I read the email the units that are participating in this hunt are modern, and muzzleloader. The second deer permits doesn't state what weapon choice they will be, most likely modern as well.

I haven't seen a number of additional permits / tags that will be issued. Does anyone have a reference? Thank you.

It isn't gonna be 1000s, I bet most will want to get this done before NOV 21-30 so that don't have to mess with the weather IE snow in the passes and such. The email didn't give numbers of extra permits issued. But my guess is that all who drew this spring will have the opportunity for the second doe tag as well.

Ten youth, and five "Age 65 and Older permits" were issued for Pearrygin in the Spring.  Only a portion of those permit holders will hunt. Some will not harvest a deer. Some won't purchase a second tag. The combined impact of those hunters won't be great. The question remains how many additional permits will be issued.

I thought it was 300.  I assumed it would be the majority in Chiliwist since it will be the most impacted.

Ok 300 divided by 3 GMUs 100 each unit divided by two tags per person so about 50 people I would guess.  :dunno:

That does sound high. Hopefully not that many.

"Matt Monda, WDFW regional wildlife manager, said the department will issue more special hunting permits to help reduce the number of deer to a level that the remaining winter range can support.

"We're being conservative in reducing the size of the herd because we are still assessing the amount of regrowth that is occurring, and we can't predict winter conditions," he said. "The additional deer harvest will be tightly controlled."

while on the phone yesterday with WDFW they said it was 200 extra permits, or 7% herd reduction goal.
