I am still contending they probably thought they were doing a good thing.   If they witnessed him walking away as he did.  They probably burned one of their tags.   Heck we have a thread on here for someone reporting to the WDFW a skeleton with two gunshot shoulders left behind.

My thoughts exactly. Exactly what I would have done too.

I'm not so certain they thought they were doing a good thing... I'd put money they knew what they were doing and had you tagged the animal first then left for the pack, the likelyhood of them taking your tag off the animal and putting thiers on it is probably pretty high.
Having said that... you shouldn't have dropped the pack.  Mine stays on my back and/or comes with me when I move.

My dad made a 450 yard shot on a big 5 point several years ago. It ran 200 yards down hill and dropped above the road along the fence line. A truck full of Mexicans got out and drug it under the fence to their truck. Speed off and gone!
They watched it drop and flat out stole it.

I would bet that somewhere there is a guy posting about some Dick that shot a buck and then turned around and walked away...   go tag your deer or elk as soon as you shoot it... its the law!  and don't take it so seriously hell it just a deer.

I thought the first thing the law asks is immediately after harvest, tag animal after filling it out.  Next time keep your pack where it belongs. On your back.  Sorry man, but common sense.
:yeah:

I believe the forum members are saying...

They shot a deer and were on their way to tag it, or were attempting to find it; but it was stolen. You would be surprised what happens in Eastern Wa when you have deer and people running around everywhere. I don't believe anyone was attempting to break any laws; my friend. Unfortunately it is one if the negative things that happen during hunting season annually.
