Anyone want to help me get a goose?
« on: November 24, 2014, 07:42:53 PM »
I've been slaying the ducks this year, but all my spots have very little goose traffic. My spread is pretty simple, with about 15 mallard decoys and six canada goose confidence decoys, so getting geese that I do see interested is just not happening. Id love to get a goose this year somehow though. Anyone have an open seat for a whatcom or skagit county goose spot? Thanks!

You may get some more feedback if you posed this question instead:

"I'd like some help getting a goose in the Whatcom county area, would anyone be willing to trade some work on their property or something in return for helping me out?

Good luck...
Thanks for the advice! I have gotten all the feeback I need via PMs. I'm not looking for anyone to reveal their secret spot, just looking for a hunting buddy or two with a bit more experience with the larger waterfowl.

I have  a spot on the island but the spot hasn't been really good this year only have taken 2 geese off of it... b/c they aren't really hitting it like the past.

Really, I've been wanting to get into bird hunting, but here I'm out of my element.  I'm not bad at clay shooting, and had some success deer hunting here in WA, but I'm at a loss on where to start with ducks/geese.  (Of course I've read the regs, done some research, but haven't got my "boots on the ground/in the water")  Any advice on where I should start?  I understand the season is going by quickly, but maybe the beginning of the season frenzy has died out a little?

I would say find a buddy near you that duck hunts, maybe someone at work etc... and tag along. I can tell you that there is a cold Snap in Canada happening and we should see peak numbers very soon
