guberment wouldn't want any innocent fun to occur, especially if they can make a buck off of it

FYI - The delay is absolutely no fault of WDFW, they are being very helpful.

I've been pretty busy this fall, I told the mods I would get the permit and forgot to follow through. So the delay is solely my fault and why I had to cancel the contest until we get the permit. I'm very sorry about that!

I've been in touch with WDFW and sent all the pertinent info, they can process the permit applications when they receive payment which is going in the mail today. I applied for permits for all the usual contests.

We should do a free for all yotes. Get as many people as we can out hunting the same day and post all the pics in one thread just for fun. No contest, no teams, just varmint eradication

Dale thanks foe the explanation,  and thanks for doing this every year out of your pocket along with your team of moderators. I look forward to this every winter and believe it or not, when my first dog goes down in fall my big game interest starts to lack

FYI - Once we have the permit we will allow coyotes taken from Nov 1 to Feb 28, to be entered in the contest. Just as we will allow other game taken during the fall seasons to be entered in the other contests. So keep your success photos so you can enter them in the contests.

Jarrod is right.  I apply for our permit at  least 2 1/2 months in advance of our Classic.  The WDFW is not the fastest to react, hence the early request.  It took me a couple of follow ups to keep it moving.

The WDFW is just following what they have been directed to follow.  The blame for the cancellation of the Madness is by no means on them as Dale has stated.

Another  possible reason for this is that I was contacted by the WDFW because a "group" had contacted them and requested a list from the WDFW as to who had requested and received a permit this year for the purpose of hunting coyotes.  This group is based in the Tenino area.  (you guess) When I returned their call, they told me they had to notify them ( did you guess) of the organizations holding these contests, the Washington Predator Hunting Association was one of them.  This site and who usually gets the permit was not one of them.  But they (WDFW) was curious as to why Coyote Madness was going on without one?

I called Raul Duke and gave him a "heads up" as to WDFW interest.  I hope this site, Bear Paw and Rual Duke did not get any ramifications from holding this contest with out a permit.  Hard to think they would even do that?

I suggest, as I do, post a copy of the permit in the future so every one know it is a "legal" contest.

Just another tidbit of info.  At the time of the notification, they (WDFW) also made mention that they are expecting legislation early next year from the animal rights groups to get all hunting contests banned in the state of Washington.  We as hunters and sportsmen and women, need to watch this as it is happening in other states now.

Hopefully these people are not able to take away our freedoms we have now. Its too bad that it has gotten this way, when contest organizers are getting sued or drug through court for doing the rite things.
