hunter ed classes in Yelm starting May 4

Hunter Ed class available at Yelm High School week of May 4th.  Online registration through the WDFW website should be available March 18th.  We will be running 2 concurrent classes so looking to get 50 students ---classes fill up fast---don't delay if you're interested.  successful students will have time to put in for special permit drawing deadline.
week long class will culminate with range day on Saturday at Upper Nisqually Sportsmens Club.  Classes are from 6-9 pm with range day from 8 am-1 pm.  we run a top notch class and you can ask around and all you will receive is positive references for our classes.  if you have any other questions you can call or text me

budget wise all we can offer is what the state gives us....we do have a short stock short bbl 22 rifle that is available for the walk through course.....students don't have to take the full size guns during this portion of the test.  live fire consists of regular size 223's and we also have a skeet shoot available with 20 ga shotguns.  basically during the live fire the gun is pointed down range and all the student has to do is load it and fire 3 rounds.  Actually the live fire and the skeet shooting is optional---as long as they pass the written test and the walk through course without sweeping us with  the muzzle they will pass the class.  we don't try to set the students up for failure toting around a long bbl gun but you have to realize that we are hunters too and don't want individuals walking around the woods (with us in them) being unsafe.  sorry your son had a bad experience but i have to say that in my opinion that there is an obvious weight difference in a longer bbl gun but if they had true understanding of muzzle control that shouldn't be the issue.  I don't know what you plan on having you son hunting  but i can tell you this...i have a 6 year old granddaughter-she has been shooting 22 pistols and rifles (with assistance) since she has been able to stand.  Lately she has been shooting my AR 223 (with assistance).  There is absolutely no way that i feel she would be ready this fall when she turns 7 to carry and shoot ethicaly/safely a 6mm/243  for deer hunting (she is not physical able to handle this type of gun) .  this is not a reflection on her as she is over the 100 percentile of kids height wise for her age and she has had gun safety drilled into her head from day one.  I am not judging you and if you feel your son is ready and he can pass the required testing....just saying that we do offer smaller guns for the test and if you feel they are ready and pass the required tests (we do not purposely attempt to fail students) good luck and good hunting.
