My 08 bear
« on: December 28, 2008, 01:57:14 AM »
I never did post any pics of my bear this fall.

She was small, but at least I was still able to get one this year.

I am on the right holding the bear, my brother (huckleberry) is on the left. I took the bear about an hour before dark up above Hamilton.
We saw like seven bears that day. For some reason a whole bunch of sows with cubs. I think we only saw two solo bears. This and another small one.
She tastes great though, a nice hint of blueberry.

Good job! I hope to get one next year. Every time I have seen a nice one its been 100 yrds or more away and all I had was my bow in hand. There was the time I called one in with my cow call to 5 feet   a sow and cub, I nearly crapped myself  but thats:yike: but thats another story  :chuckle:

I like the small bears. Makes me feel a little safer when I'm the one going into the brush after a wounded animal  :) I liked your strategy though "leave the keys in the truck that way if you get eaten I can drive out and call for help". Next year you'll have to try and make it over more than once so I can show you some real bears. The pack might be a little harder though...

LOL, small doesn't always mean better.  Small Bear is still capable or tearing you a new butt hole on your way back out.

If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.
