Wyoming Mountain Goat Hunting Info
« on: January 05, 2009, 01:29:18 PM »
Does anyone know anything about Mountain Goat hunting in Wyoming.  I've been looking through the regulations on the Wyoming Fish and Game website and I am still a bit confused.  Do you have to actually send in the entire cost of the tag for a deposit in order to bee in the drawing, or do you pay the $14 application fee and then buy the tag after you get drawn?  Also, does anyone know anything about unit 1?  Can you get a goat in the non-wilderness area so you don't have to hire a guide?  Or are all the goat in the wilderness areas?

Thanks!

You don't have to hire a guide.  There are two units to apply for.  One is almost if not completely out of teh wilderness and the other is about half.  I am not positive but fairly sure you frontthe cash.  You do for the other big ones.

Money up front all 2166 dollars of it.  Don't know about unit 1 its half wilderness so maybe yes maybe no...........depends on where the goats want to be and if you want to limit yourself to half the area and a lesser trophy. :dunno:

THE WASHINGTON DEPARTMENT OF FISH AND WILDLIFE SUCKS MORE THAN EVER..........

I found this for the units: http://gf.state.wy.us/downloads/pdf/09appbooklet/09NR31.pdf

I'm just wondering if there are any goats outside the wilderness in Unit 1.

You can PM me.  I killed a 9" billy outside the wilderness in Area 1 in 2000.  My buddy did the same in 1999.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
