Spent 20 full days hunting the early archery tag there. I saw 100's of does, 15 juvenile bucks (button/spike/twig head) and 5 mature (3-5 year old) bucks. Of those 5 mature bucks I considered only 2 to be quality and it took a long time to find them. No BS.....the buck (respectable 5X4) I decided to put a stalk on was blown out of his bed by a couple of bird hunters with their dogs as I was setting-up an approach. This after seeing no one for 19 days. Such is the way on public land....
All in all a fun, but hot hunt. I saw no monster muleys that made me wet myself but with the sheer number of deer I saw I can only imagine what a late rut hunt might be like.
