Otter can beat powered doors in a four foot trap. Remember fast and agile.
i been thinking about doing a 5'or6' swim threw. A lot of areas I have set are long narrow runs and I've sat till dark watching these beaver hits and I often seeing them swimming in a straight line almost nose to tail. I wonder if I could get some doubles and otters with a few longer swim threws

Those things would be a bear to pack around. Seems they would be pretty limited where you could use them. I would prefer to set two short ones.

I'm doing 12"x12"x60"  one or two will be handy for a few areas. Just about All my traps are heavy and awkward to pack. I'm getting used to it.  I just strap them to the pack frame and away I go. It's not so bad till you get 3 cat or beaver traps on that thing.

yesterday my bait sight was hit. Half the beaver was gone. Check pics this morning and it was 2 dogs :bash: one of them was the same dog I caught running a young deer last week. Idk why people think it's ok to let their dogs run free like that. I'm going to pull out of this area and set the beaver pond again with a bait site

My current swim thrus are 12x12x40 the otter beat them all the time with the gravity doors. Next batch will be 12x18x40 with powered doors and conibear triggers see how those work. I'm having same issue with dogs farmer down the road his dogs run free and they come down stream a mile or so and keep rolling my mink and racoon traps over tried staking them down and dogs still mess with them. I don't get it my own dogs are trained to stay on the property and don't mess with anything. The neighbors dogs just cause hell in the neighborhood specially with my chickens and goats they harrass them all the time

Every thing is flooded out now. Got very wet today saving my swim threw. River is up over a foot. Ponds are more. Pulling some traps tomorrow as I go back to work Monday.  I'll have to shorten my loop up.

Had to do the same myself. Never payed much attention to how much the rain affects water levels before this year when I'm in it all the time! Heavy rains have got my beaver ponds all full up can't even see the runs. My traps went from just under the surface to almost two feet under :bash: guess that's why its called the wet side of Washington I guess

For the dog problem put a bunch of straight skunk funk all over the trap let the dogs get into it and see what the owners think of dogs running loose

  that's my plan. Skunk oil and some gusto and canine force.   Should smell real nice
