South Dakota Pheasants
« on: October 15, 2015, 09:09:40 PM »
Headed to SD in the morning for the pheasant opener on Saturday. Reports are a greater than 40% increase in birds. My first year was 2013 that was a very down year from all reports. It was a life time of pheasant hunting for me in 5 days though. The farmer apologized for the lack of birds but I let him know 100 birds flushing at the end of a corn row drive might not be what he was used too but I could deal with it. Anybody else going? I can't wait. Boom Boom. Good luck to all with all the openers.

Shoot straight my friend!  One of these years I'm gonna drag my dad over there to shoot some birds.  He always talks so fondly of shooting pheasant growing up, I think it would be cool to let him go crazy with the old pump.  I'd be happy just watching good dogs work.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

I too was hoping to get out for the opener and do some major blazing but didn't work out quite like I had hoped.  Maybe next year will be my year?  Good luck and bring back some pictures and stories

Headed to ND next Friday for 5 days of pheasant hunting.  Our contact there says he has never seen more birds than this year!  I am fortunate to get to take the oldest son this year and the younger one next year.  Bucket list trips for sure!

He's right, more birds this year than I've ever seen. Have fun and good luck.

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling did you come close to what can be considered a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber having heard it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

I'm headed to SD in just 8 more days.  I wait until the 1st of Nov., hoping the crops will be down.

Taking off the end of the month, am planning on hunting Nov. 1, this is my 7th trip back. It has turned into a yearly event for me. Even on the down years it's better than hunting in Washington.

If the crops aren't out, opening weekend can suck.  I hunt in late November and early December.  You want that HUGE flush of birds where you can't shoot because there are too many birds, hunt late season when the birds cluster up.  I'm hunting the first week of December outside Highmore, and then heading south to hunt quail in Eastern Nebraska.  I can't wait!
