My 2013 Muzzy Bull!!!
« on: November 20, 2015, 09:01:15 AM »
My 2013 Muzzy Bull. Hell of a hunt both physically and mentally. A lot of hours scouting and doing our homework. Couldn't have done it without the help of two good friends(Cohlt and Josh), and my wife. Season started on a Tues we went up Friday and set everything up. Took Friday evening and scouted all through the weekend. Monday we spent the day where we had seen a shooter earlier in September, and saw some smaller bulls. My goal was to shoot a bull bigger then my biggest set of sheds 370's. Tues the tag started and Cohlt and I spent the morning hiking in well before light to get to where we had seen a high 360 class 7x6 during the rut. First light we heard bulls bugling down below us and we went after the bulls following the ridge top. Wind was good and we walked down the ridge trying to close the distance. Three different encounters with the herd bull but we couldn't quite seal the deal. Nasty weather rolled in and we decided to back out since the bull eluded us. Headed back to the truck and met my dad and another buddy. They had seen some smaller bulls but nothing to go on. Due to weather up high we decided to head down lower. We saw a solid 370+ 7x7 with 12 cows and went after him. Got right in the middle of the elk and the wind shifted and blew the bull out. We backed out of there and decided to head after him first thing in the morning. Josh met us in the morning and I told him what we seen and he was excited to have a little easier morning, since he had spent all day before helping a close friend of his pack out his bull. We head up after the bull we seen the night before and right on our way we see a 340 class 6x6 with 10 cows. I pass on him but it definitely got the blood going. We continue up the mountain and catch a bull right out in the open. After looking at him for a minute or so I saw matching kickers and told the guys I'm going to shoot him. We knew he was 350 and with the kickers we knew he was a shooter. 76 yard shot and the bull piled up.

Thanks for all the help guys. I waited 13 years to draw and it was definitely worth the wait. Bull scored 376 inches. I will send a pic of him on my wall. My dad is a phenomenal taxidermist (Casper Taxidermy) and did a wonderful job on him.

Great bull!

Your dad did a great job on my bear a couple years ago, and has done quite a bit of work for my dad.  Welcome!

Thank you Skillet. Definitely have the kicker genetics over our way. I figured I'd share my story since I love elk hunting more than anything.
