Cathlamet Springer report
« on: March 12, 2016, 04:31:17 PM »
I went to Cathlamet today with some friends for the inaugural springer run to juts get the bugs out.  Weather SUCKED...rain, wind, cold....did not last long...lol  We launched at 8 and fished the channel (best we could) for about 3 hours until we had juts had enough.  The fish checker said he had not saw a single fish come in and that last weekend he had checked 7 fish but nothing since then. The parking lot was pretty full at Elocohman marina as well as several RV so people are fishing but just not much catching yet.  I figure 2 more weeks and it should be worth fishing (I hope)but hopefully they come sooner than later....I was fishing 5 rods all with  various colored herring and flashers over in the channel.

How was the water color?  I figured with the rain lately it would be chocolate soup.  There was a couple days last week that were good fishing in the channel.  A friend got 3 in 3 days.   Or he was just a lucky sob.

Weather has not been cooperative the last few weeks.  No catching might mean an extension in April.   :IBCOOL:

Can't have that, that would put fishermen on the river at the same time as the fish! :o

No kidding...  My districts spring break starts around the 15th so I'm pulling for a few April extensions.

We'll be in Cathlamet as well this weekend.  Saturday and Sunday in the marina.

If the rain lets up and the river clears we should get some fishing in.
