Late season Yale 554 Muzzle loader Bull tag

My 13 year old boy drew the 11-23 through 12-15 late muzzleloader tag for a bull in unit 554 Yale.  I have been all through most of these units over the years but never Yale.  Anyone out there got some advice?  I am looking forward to spending the time with him as we search for any legal bull (he won't be picky)  Thanks!!

You can try and knock on some doors, maybe some of the locals might give more sympathy to a youth tag holder. Most however won't let you hunt their property but it's worth a shot.

You can scout darn near every square inch of the Yale public land in a single day.  That hunt is all about weather.  If there is snow and the weather is nasty you should have a good hunt.

So it is somewhat of a winter migration hunt?  Not sounding like a very good tag unless you know some locals.  Oh well.  Thanks for the info!

Plenty of public land.  And there used to be a lot of elk in there before hoof rot and logging of all the timber.  Still a few bulls left that stay there all year.  But most need to get pushed down for that hunt to be really good.  Which on the average year they are.
