Should I sit on this?
« on: September 06, 2016, 06:30:43 PM »
Hey guys, I drew a archery quality bull permit this year and recently went out scouting. I found some fresh rubs in multiple different areas and then came upon this wallow. My question is should I set up on this thing? or hike until I hear a bugle? If sitting is recommended what time of day would you recommend? I should also mention that this wallow is on the edge of heavy timber and while I was in there I saw the biggest elk track I've ever seen next to the wallow

Is that a peaches tag you drew? That wallow looks kinda familiar but little reference so hopefully not mine lol. I've never thought waiting for elk was as useful as going to find them but I've never hunted bulls bigger than spikes.

:yike: are you sure the bull isn't at the bottom of that pit, and that's the tip of it antler sticking up  :chuckle:  :chuckle: I would overnight it until the season was over, but that's just me.

I might a little bit Elk get thirsty after all, but not sure how long.
"When my bow falls, so shall the world. When me heart ceases to pump blood to my body, it will all come crashing down. As a hunter, we are bound by duty, nay, bound by our very soul to this world. When a hunter dies we feel it, we sense it, and the world trembles with sorrow. When I die, so shall the world, from the shock of loosing such a great part of ones soul." Ezekiel, Okeanos Hunter

Wallows are a great place to start, set up a game camera and see whats coming in first, in some cases not so much as other hunters might be checking out the same wallow, stop by my place next time you get over here again I have a few places for you to check out.
