My cousin swears by his Marlin 336 .30-30 and open sights. Most lever actions feel too short for me at 6'4" tall, and I always joke with him my 30-06 has more energy at 300yards than his 30-30 does at 100yards. Lever actions make PERFECT hunting rifles for thick woods areas but lack at longer ranges. With the newer Hordany Lever-Revolution ammo you can strech the .30-30 accurately to 275yards or so. |

First gun I used was a old Buffalo bill commemorative 30/30 Iron sites. Still take it once in a while for bear of Cougar hunting. Also have my dads old 30/40 Krag lever action I still use once in a while. |
