Foriegn objects in deer/elk
« on: September 28, 2016, 11:43:43 AM »
While skinning my buck this year I noticed a spot low on his leg after skinned that looked like 2 toothpick sized dark lines, each about 1" long. They were healed up with a little sack kinda thing around them. My first thought was porcupine quills, but after cutting the thing off and dissecting it, found out it was 2 pieces of wood.

We have all found various type bullets in critters, but a first for me to find wood chunks in a deer. Any body else ever find odd stuff healed up in your deer or elk?

My pops killed a bull in Forks area years ago, had Muzzleloaded round ball in its shoulder, and a broad head in its neck. Both were all healed up. The meat cutter that found the broad head wasn't happy, he found it with his bandsaw, did a number on his blade!

Killed a buck on San Juan island a couple years back that had a pellet from a pellet gun lodged against his heart. The heart was bruised pretty good in that spot. He also had another pellet in his hind quarter.
Killed the bull in my avatar that had 10 inches of arrow lodged against his ribs, hard quartering away shot I'm assuming.
