East or West?
« on: October 14, 2016, 10:08:56 AM »
So season starts tomorrow... unfortunately I work Saturdays so won't be hunting the opener, but Sunday I'm free. I wish I was free Monday too, but the wife works so I'm gonna be home with the kid. As the title suggests, I'm in between what I should do... I've always wanted to chase mule deer on the east side, however due to having a new kid I haven't been able to go over there and scout at all. I would be driving over and just winging it. Probably the Teanaway/Bumping/Nile/Naches GMU if I were to go that route. If I were to see a bear while I was out that would be a plus. On the other hand, I have a Vail pass and know where deer hang out down there.

What would you do? Think it would be remotely worth driving over or should I just stick locally?

Vail would be your best bet.

:yeah:  The deer should be up and feeding once the storm breaks.

I'm thinking if I hit veil I'll probably sit on a cut early in the morning and as the day goes on I'll hit some reprod/timber edges with my 30-30
