2 shotguns legal?
« on: November 08, 2016, 01:35:15 PM »
I scoured the regs and interweb and couldn't find an answer.

Where I hunt, I shoot ducks over decoys at maybe 20 yards and have a shot at passing geese at 40-50 yards.  Obviously, it would be great if I could shoot two different loads and chokes.  Is it legal to bring two guns and have them both loaded?

Of course. You can have as many guns as you like. Bring ten!

Yes, you could have them lined up in front of you.  They still can only hold a max of 3 shells each.  Many people still bring the 10 gauge out to the blind loaded with goose loads along with the 12 gauge.  This used to be standard protocol back prior to the 90's.  12 gauge with 2-3/4" lead number #5's and the Ithaca or SP-10 gauge loaded with 3-1/2" Federal Copper plated lead BB's or #2's and a full choke.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!

I have a friend who is warden and he confirmed that it is legal. He says he doesn't come across it that often anymore. Probably for the reason that H20 mentioned.

So just to. Be clear.
On wildlife areas you still can only shoot 15 shells. Where limited.

I carried two shotguns a couple times. One loaded for geese and my fav loaded for ducks. I always grabbed the wrong gun when geese came by.

Exactly.
You can have unlimited guns, but the shell limits still apply.

Nisqually is a 25 shell limit but you couldn't tell it by some of the folks out there.

The 15 shell restriction is in Skagit County.  Most other refuges have a 25 shell limit.  You would still be limited to the overall set shell restriction limit.

Always wondered if two muzzle loaders was legal.....
