full size yote decoys - flambeau etc
« on: January 29, 2017, 10:48:00 AM »
Anyone use coyote decoys? Saw Flambeau lone howler on sale curious if any regularly uses one.

Here's a hen from the back yard this AM.  I was still in my PJ's making a cup of coffee.

200 yards dead run parallel to me, took one in the neck and another through the rump

Looks like just a pain to haul around.  I did some work with a Montana coyote decoy, it is silk screened fabric on a spring steel frame that twists into a small flat package like a auto window shade, pretty near fits in your pocket.  It worked well in spring wheat fields that geese were using.  I'd set the decoy out and lay Mojo spinning decoy on the ground in front of it, it looked like something flopping on the ground in front of the decoy, they came in like on a string.  I don't hunt a lot of open spaces so it does get limited use but do keep in the truck.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

ya I was looking at that one in particular, mating season thought it might be fun.

might work well on RR tracks and iced over rivers.

Like AWS said good for open ground, other scenarios they have trouble seeing the decoy I.E. no movement .
