Yakima river canyon deer
« on: February 03, 2017, 09:37:07 PM »
I decided to drive through the canyon today on my way back from Seattle.  I stopped at several turnouts along the way and glassed for deer.  I counted 71 in about four different turnouts before I decided I needed to get going.  I did not even look at over half of the canyon.   The deer actually looked good.  Did not see any bucks, but that could be because they already dropped.  I feel a little better about the winter after seeing their health today.  But I know we have a long way to go.

I went through there the other day and saw over a hundred, really surprised at the lack of snow in the canyon. I saw several bucks that had dropped but none seemed like they would have been anything to big.

I go through that canyon every 5 days on the train. Saw 150+ last trip and they all looked great. One herd of 45
