I went out to one of my spots yesterday. It is a river and I can walk in along the top and then sneak over the edge and see for 6 or 700 yds. I did that yesterday and got into place and just letting things calm down so out come the bino's. I spotted a coyote around 500yds walking in a draw. Watched him heading away for maybe 100 ft and then he stopped and looked right at me. Busted  :bash: I stayed where I was and started calling about 20 min later but didn't hear or see anything else. Should I have just tried a stalk on him? Or something else? Do you think it was even worth it to stay and call. Seems I have done this a few times and I really don't think it's worth it to stay cause they never have come in  once they spot me.

no worries, stay put, cause thats just one dog. your calls can pull from a half mile or more. i have called in yote's, shot or shot at them, and still managed to get another one in after all that. its just one dog, call in the ones ya don't see. good luck.

I'm new at this stuff too, but I would have to agree to stay put.  No sense in stalking it, those things literally disappear.  Good luck.

If you think the area holds more coyotes go ahead and call.  If you think that was the only one or the last one leaving the area, back out and come back later.  No sense educating them to relate the sound you are using to a human.
