Rape allegation against division manager reveals ‘highly sexualized’ culture at state agency

KING 5 reports that “(t)he victim told police she had had a sexual relationship with Schirato before, referring to him and his wife as ‘swingers.’ When questioned by investigators, Schirato said, ‘we play together regularly and I’ll leave it at that.'”

According to the Olympia PD, forensic evidence allegedly “established a link between the victim and the suspect.”

This is a poorly kept secret that's been fairly well known for a while.  Swingers groups, photos around the office, and similar rumors (not being a WDFW employee, I don't know which of the rumors are true).  I believe Schirato's original statements included that he and the victim "play together regularly."

With how messed up WDFW is, this doesn't really surprise me.  Hopefully it doesn't smokescreen too much and pull attention away from all their other failures.

When too many rats are crowded in a cage, the result is social dysfunction and breakdown of normal behaviors.  The same is true for humans, any time you have a sea of cubicles, you will have dysfunctional behaviors emerge.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

A sea of cubicles doesn't justify rape.

Agreed.  I was referring to the "highly sexualized" culture.

As is typical Shirato denies all the accusations and wants his job back. I hope DFW has enough common sense and moxie to not allow that.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

Not when the victim is asleep in her house and the rapist breaks in... the line is pretty clear.

WDFW has been raping the North Sound Steelhead fishermen for the last 7-10 years, why is this not surprising?
