Kydex IWB holsters and appendix carry
« on: October 10, 2017, 10:26:20 PM »
Looking for opinions. I appendix carry most of the time and recently tried a new leather holster that has some rough edges. It causes discomfort where it rubs the front of my hip. I'm curious if kydex might have issues with this.

What handgun you got?
Kydex is pretty smooth, I carry my Shield in a kydex holster, it's thin and smooth. That's the big advantage of kydex, it's thin but pretty durable.

Thanks. I was able to find another Don Hume to fit the new gun. I've used one with another pistol for about 15 years.

I bought this holster for another gun and never used it. Turns out it fits my new pistol, but the stitching and the edge of the leather in this spot cause some irritation.

Yea, if you have an option to go with kydex, always go with kydex. Leather looks good and stuff, but it's a little thick sometimes for carrying IWB. But it's different for everyone.

With IWB, sometimes you just gotta move left and right a little bit to find the most comfortable spot :chuckle:

Alien gear makes my favorite concealed holsters by far now.  You can gett all sorts of configurations.

GCODE Incog for me.

Check out https://www.yourbuddystan.com/ if you're ever looking for holsters.  Stocks a ton and is local, has a shop in Shoreline where you can try a bunch of holsters out.

I just go to Ebay, find home made kydex holsters that are well made and finished and buy them for 20 bucks. Nobody could tell if it was home made if they saw mine, carbon fiber kydex, well made and finished for $20 including 3 day shipping.

I've always liked Done Hume holsters, so I've just added another to my collection.

Don Hume makes a quality Holster.
I use to use Galco Southern Comfort II for appendix carry. It was pretty good.
I just do not Appendix carry after going down while appendix carrying and having the wind get knocked out and bruised all to heck.
It really sucks if you come down on your pistol in your appendix. Just like a punch to the kidneys.
Now I carry between 3-5 o'clock depending on the holster and what I am wearing.
