Weird how some of you guys are all fire an brimstone when it comes to breaking the law on some things but not others.

Ive seen threads on this site where everybody is ready to lynch the guy who throws a beer bottle in the forest, but its cool to drive your diesel truck minus the egr for 300k miles?

My truck came like that so that's the way it's gonna stay unless directed otherwise. Sure not going to pay the $$ to have it put back to factory. I wanted a truck with manual transmission so that's what I got.  :twocents:

You will have to do it yourself or find a person with skills.  A shop isn't going to do it most likely.  Not really that hard.  Some tuners simply by pass it without removal I think.  I know I would not want it on my truck so I feel for ya.  When they fail it can do damage... I bought older to avoid this emission crap. 6.4 can be a powerhouse when set-up correct, good luck. Suggest reading forums on your truck.  Tons of good info.
MAGA!  Again..

I did it on my 6.0 myself, there is a lot of good information on it if you search forums or find a video on youtube.  I did the EGR delete, straight piped it, 75HP injectors, bigger turbo, billet HPOP, Fass fuel system and an SCT tuner with custom tunes and it was a fun truck to drive and I averaged 20mpg and it had a 6" lift an 35's

Like others said shops will not do the work so it is either have a buddy do it or do it yourself but if you do your research and take your time it is easy.

I think I will try out the bulletproof diesel egr amd oil cooler set up to see how they work out. That way no broken laws, even if they are bs.

If you're going to tune it and bump the turbo boost, you might consider ARP head studs. Or plan on doing them later if a head gasket blows. It's a fair amount additional labor to do and the stud kit is like $600-ish.

+1 for doing ARP studs or make sure you have the extra cash for them if the head gaskets go.  I did them on my truck but luckily my buddy has a 2 post lift so wasn’t to bad to pull the cab.

I met a guy in Idaho a few years ago and he got to telling me about hot rod diesel motors and how you could get huge power easy out of a diesel. Said his Ford was so fast it was just incredible.
The his kid piped up and said "Yeah, but it only ran for 18 minutes before it blew up"  :chuckle:

Look guys, Im an at home gunsmith and when I have my tools there isnt much I cant do, but a diesel mechanic I am not. I can do my basic mechanics to keep her runnin and get home but takimg the cab off and digging into major parts I will not. I like the truck to much for me to personally kill it.

I had dynomite diesel in Monroe work on the fuel system on my 6.0.  Very good customer service and a speedy turn around, will be returning in the future.

I have been thinking of doing the same thing to my 2012 6.7 powerstoke now that the warranty is finally over.  I am getting tired of the "cleaning exhaust" indicator coming on.  I have already had the egr cooler replaced and I only have 65,000 miles on it.  Everything is bolt on, so it seems pretty straight forward for a guy to do himself that is mechanically inclined.  Just need to figure out what programmer tongo with.  I will say that the resale worries me if I go that route though.

If it truly is all bolt-on, no reason a person couldn't just box up the take off parts and store them until time to sell, then reinstall?

Granted it would be a of pain to redo the undo, but shouldn't hurt resale value then as it would be back to stock configuration.

Of course, that is a D.Y.I. job and not paying a shop...
