Chelan Moose
« on: May 12, 2018, 03:48:11 PM »
Got this big fella walking by. Found 7-8 of his beds through a couple drainages and willows where he'd rubbed on and eaten from this winter. Also found other piles of moose poop that were different sized than his, so hopefully there's a mom and calf up there as well.

Little mulie buck for size comparison.

That’s cool! I had a nice bull run right in front of our truck up in the snow last November in the chelas area. Got a good little video of him

12 miles as the crow flies from camera to camera. First bull has light hair on his belly I think. Maybe the same, I'm thinking different though.

Sure could be a different bull. Two opposite ends of the spectrum for moose hair in August and March though. If I were to bet a nickel, it'd be that's the same guy. Glad to see you getting those pics in that country.

Well another bull found his way over as did a cow! Fun to see them hard horned. Only one picture of one cougar on this camera, otherwise it's been all moose since June.

It's amazing how the perspective changes from them laying to standing. Both laying makes those antlers look so much larger than when they are standing.

I had a couple deer walk by back in May or June-ish. Crazy how much bigger these dudes are than mulies.

The first pic is one of the coolest cam pics I've ever seen.

Thanks man. Remind me to send you my two shots that have won competitions sometime, they beat the snot out of these.

You're definately found the motherlode of the Chelan Co moose :chuckle:

I certainly stumbled upon them! I was bummed for a while because this camera has been a bust for my original purpose of trying to scout deer, but in the end I'm pretty pleased to see how many of them there are.

Thats awesome.

My vote is that the first velvet bulls were the same bull.  12 miles for a moose is less than a juant.  Heck you can follow one down a road for 10 lol

Yeah the velvet guy and first two pictures of that bulls are the same. He's got 3 brow tines on one side and 4 on the other. The second card hard horned bull is different, he's crab clawed on one of his brow tines. I think the bull from March is different than even these two. Much bigger body.

Well, got back to this camera finally. Bunch of cats, some squirrels over winter and a bear a couple weeks ago. Pulled the camera for good, but passed another cam a couple hundred yards from this one so the Manson moose mantle has been passed on!

I've got one more camera a few miles farther in than this one that I was watching a bull around during deer season, might have some moose pics on that one! But yeah, I bumped a cat from a water hole as I was pulling this camera. Lot of ungulate killers up there.

Roads are pretty good. Lot of smaller rocks on the side of the road that you have to drive around. No big washouts though. Been up to South Navarre with no problem.
