Ammo getting stuck in barrel

I have a HK P2000SK 9mm. I recently picked up some Buffalo Bore Outdoorsmans ammo (https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=388). After loading the ammo the round in the chamber was stuck when I tried to rack it out. I really had to yank on it a bunch of times to get it out. No such problems with any other ammo I've ever used. I took the gun apart and noticed that when you put a round in the barrel it sticks up a  little above the flat part above the back of the barrel, where as all other ammo is flush with it. I haven't shot any of the ammo yet and was wondering if this will be an issue or the slide will work just fine when firing.

In order to really know you will need to take measurements with a caliper.  You basically chamber checked your ammo and it doesn't like your chamber or your chamber doesn't like the round.  Try cleaning your chamber (chamber only, no the whole barrel) by using a chamber brush or a q-tip and some solvent.  If you have shot a few thousand rounds without cleaning your chamber can get a bit "sticky" but should still run just fine.

If that doesn't solve things then the ammo isn't correct to your chamber but still may feed/fire/eject just fine.  I would run quite a few rounds through it before I trusted it, say in the woods, though.  Those rounds are hopped up deep penetrating rounds but I'm sure you already know that...

Do not fire those rounds in that barrel, at least in the condition it's in. If cleaning it lets them fit correctly (using your barrel as the gauge as you already described), that's fine, but otherwise the reasons for the tight fit are likely to cause higher pressure in an already high pressure round. That can be very dangerous, and not worth the risk.

If you want to know what part of the round is sticking in the chamber, color it with a black marker and chamber it again. You should be able to see shiny spots on the round once you extract it. Look closely at the bullet right in front of the case mouth.

A couple likely causes for a loaded round (from any ammo) not fitting your barrel are:
- bullet seated out too far into the rifling, or your barrel's throat is too short/tight.
- oversized cast bullet in a tight chamber. You want cast bullets to be larger than the barrel's groove diameter, but not so large they stick in the chamber.
Either of those can cause significantly higher pressure and can be dangerous in an already hot load.

Other possible causes are improper case sizing or flared case mouth that wasn't crimped properly. Those won't generally cause pressure issues, but will cause reliability issues.

I'd guess you aren't the only one experiencing this problem with this lot of ammo.  Call Buffalo Bore and let them know this lot of ammo has an issue.  Bullet's either too large in diameter or seated out too far.   Or..... you boogered up your throat somehow (very unlikely).

Headspace has nothing to do with overall length of the cartridge.

If the headspace is short and the cartridge is long, it will have plenty to do with.

Again, no. I don't think you understand what headspace and overall length are.

Headspace measurements have nothing to do with the bullet; it's only about how the brass fits the chamber. Overall length is just a measurement from the base of the cartridge to the tip of the bullet; it has nothing to do with headspace or anything else that could cause this issue. Ogive length could certainly be the issue, as already mentioned above, but that's not what you said and is not dictated by headspace or overall length.

As a shop owner, it's in your best interest to understand this stuff better before offering suggestions on it.

I'd put money on the bullet getting jammed into the rifling. I have a bunch of coated 9mm projectiles that I loaded a touch long on accident, they wont fit in a couple of my guns. The overall length is right on, but the ogive shape is different, which means they would need to be seated shorter to allow clearance.

No.  But if no one calls the mfgr they don't know either.   This should be a no-brainer.  Either the bullet is too big of diameter or it's seated out too long.    I had a problem with some Remington waterfowl ammo last season.  Remington told me I was the first to call.  Once they tested the ammo I sent back along with the some cleaning patches I'd pushed thru the barrel they decided they had an issue.

I was given some .45 ACP reloads that had the cast bullets seated out too far.  They jammed in my gun everytime.

I'm not much of a 9mm guy but that bullet profile looks pretty blunt compared to most other 147gr loads I've seen. It's likely just the ogive hitting the lands because the OAL with that bullet is a little too long to work in your chamber.

Do you have anybody near you with a 9mm you could check the ammo in?

So I contacted Buffalo Bore and they sent me this (https://www.buffalobore.com/index.php?l=product_list&c=212) article. Seems pretty damn stupid that some gun companies are still using the short ogive when there is no benefit to it. The guy from Buffalo Bore said it was safe to shoot as long as the round was chambering all the way. Looks like it is chambering just fine, you just have to give it a pretty hard rack to get it out.

If it was me I wouldn't buy any more Buffalobore ammo.
