Timberlands on SW closed
« on: August 07, 2018, 09:53:30 PM »
Went out to do a little scouting along the West Coast and every gate I came to that wasn’t DNR said “timeberlands closed to all public access due to extreme fire danger”. bummed! Total waste of an entire day to see that sign everywhere I pulled into...

Already been mentioned on here.  Start doing the rain dance.  Things are not looking good.

Who's property?  I haven't seen any fire closure signs on Weyco land yet.

I believe it’s Hancock land on the coast that I was hoping to access.. luckily I’m headed out of town for early archery and will be hunting on USFS lands. I was hoping to get in a little scouting for early Muzzy season. Hopefully it’s open by then?!?!

I drove the pretty much the entire coast today and every major timber property I came across was closed. The only thing that appeared to be accessible was the state forest land. I don’t know about Weyerhaeuser land but I don’t pay to play so it doesn’t really make a difference. Just curious, what do you guys do when everything is closed? Go to state land? Pray for rain? Or leave the coast entirely?

Weyco isn't closed...I got a permit and last year when it got real dry they told us they are not closing the woods on us..but years ago when they did close before the permit system, state land was usually the only thing left open

hope for rain it opened last year the last 4 days of the archery season it's a risk you take hunting that area if you are not paying a access fee.

Forecast has changed and isn't looking good.  At this rate SW Timberlands wont open until modern.
