My daughter's elk managed to stop one of the 7mm 120 grain TTSX bullets in the far shoulder. I just had to slice the hide a little where the bulge was to expose the bullet.

Weighed it last night- 119.6 grains. I then weighed a bullet straight out of the box- 119.9 grains. Gee, I bet the plastic tip weighs about 0.3 grains.

That's why I chose the Barnes TTSX for my daughter's elk hunt. I needed a light bullet to keep recoil as mild as possible, so I wanted a bullet that wouldn't disintegrate if she hit a shoulder.

My favorite bullet with excellent experiences.

Then for some strange reason when I picked up a 300 win mag this year for elk season I was talked into working it up for the 200 gr. Hornady Precision Hunter ELD-X.  I will still use the ttsx on the other 2 hunting rifles and if the ELD-X does not meet expectations I will switch it over to the Barnes ttsx like the other two.
It's a TIKKA thing..., you may not understand.

So, impact vel was probably 2,200 to 2,300 fps.  :dunno:

Pretty good results.
