Youth Moose Mt. Spokane Region Help Success

Well guys, I got my cow on Thursday it wasn't one of the biggest, but I figured I better take it while I had a chance cause i only had a week, and it was almost up. Here is how it went; it was around 5:30 or so and we were starting to head down since we were a ways up the hill. Well on our way down we saw a cow moose standing in the road and so we jumped out, it started to turn and go down the road pretty quick and i got my .270 out, planning to use the 7mm but i was too slow loading the shells, so i got the clip in and followed down the road almost shot once but then she turned and started walking away again so i didn't take the shot. Then we were following her tracks and it looked like she went up into the bushes and trees so I was watching up in there and listening for any noises but my dad walked a few feet down the road farther and he looked around the corner and there she was just standing there broadside acroos some tree limbs. Great shot I thought so i took my 270 shot her once pretty sure it was in the vitals. I slid the bolt and slammed another shell in and after she jumped i took another shot and she went down. I was actually really surprised how well the 270 worked but it did the job almost flawlessly the only flaw was I had to shoot her a second time but it could have been worse like I may have missed completely or she may have ran. I'm getting the pics developed as soon as possible. Today, My dad, mom, and I all took the cow moose to the meat shop to get it butchered and cut into steak and like that. When they weighed her she was almost 400 pounds completely skinned and the head off. Thats with my dad and I complete amateurs at field dressing a moose, first time for both, so we had actually cut off a lot of the meat when we did dress it, it was not pretty. I figure that 400 pounds of meat isnt bad compared to the black-tail I usually get out at Veil, which is all I used to hunt. and i forgot for maybe a couple days but i just wanted to thank everyone that helped me get this moose with all the info on the areas and all that.

Ohhhh and another story: I was up there the first day hunting on Sunday last week. The first moose I had ever seen was on the road and jumped over the side when we pulled up in the truck. When I went to see if I could find her, there she was just down the hill about 20 feet out. I was thinking about maybe taking her when I started hearing a big bull moose in the bushes at most 20 feet away and he sounded pissed that I was there messing with his cow. At one point I actually heard the bull moose snort like an angry bull cow in the bull fights and so I got really scared. I decided I would try waiting the bull out and see if he would move away so I could feel comfortable enough to shoot the cow. He didn't move and waited just off the hill and the worst part was the bushes and branches were so thick I couldn't even see him. That's when the cow started to walk away and when she started to walk away, I could hear the bull following her and grunting at her and since that was the first I had ever seen a moose it was extremely eye-opening and scary for me...... There's a little story I thought might be interesting to go along with the success story.
