I rattled in my first archery Blacktail a few years ago.  He was a nice 3x3 running across my viewpoint from my tree stand.  He was about 80-90 yards away.  I rattled hard for 30 seconds and he stopped in his tracks and looped around looking for me.  Ten minutes later he got arrowed at about ten yards.

Since then I have not had absolute proof that rattling works.  I still believe in it and do it though.  Good luck!
