Didn't expect mom to take off like that without her cubs

In will bet that the cub that ran went up a tree and is out of reach, that is why you still hear it.  They may have all gotten away alive actually.

Blackies can climb, grizz generally can't. Better be a big tree though.
May that for which I prepare never come to pass.

Sounds to me like that bear is getting squeezed to death.

I'm no expert but that noise sounds a little more forced than the usual cub vocalizations

Yeah, There is a huge grizzly right below him that wants to eat him.  You bet he would be squaling.

It's true they will make piteous noises without being touched

This is the craziest video I've seen in a while. A few things blew my mind...1) I would have walked right over that bear den and not been the wiser. 2) Grizz didn't give a dang that the humans were so close. 3) I'm betting that the cub got up a tree (I cant imagine it living that long int he jaws of a grizzly. Wild all around. Thanks for sharing

My thoughts exactly when I saw it. I wondered if the cub made it up a tree and then eventually reunited with the momma since the grizzly wouldn't be able to climb the tree.
