Anyone who goes should do some fishing too while they are there. Fishing even off the road system can be utterly outrageous. Some of the best times of my life so far were on the road system rivers catching reds and silvers! Only have to drive 15 min out of town to get fishing beyond your wildest dreams.

For sure! I have fished with a buddy and caught silvers till our arms were sore.I had a canoe set up so i could stand in it and see the schools.Then i'd slow roll a spinner through them and hold on.

Tagging along on this.  Anybody have any good recommendations for a POW hunt? Thinking DIY out of a lodge/cabin. Been wanting to do this for quite some time.  Getting some fishing in on the same trip would be fun too!

I heard of another island up there too that i guess has zero grizzlys.  I want to say its called Strawberry island

It's pretty dang easy to do too guys.  It seems intimidating to plan but it's no different than any other hunt.  Get the tags, get there, hunt, and get back.

We used Andrew's Air and flew a Cessna 206.  It was $1,800 round trip.  If we had been heavier we would have taken a beaver which would have been $2,400. So if you have 2-4 guys and keep gear minimal 2,400-3,000 isnt that bad.  Our round trip flights from seatac to kodiak were $525.    Add in the cost of the tags and license and that's about it as far as the big expenses of the trip. 

Our pilot said that guys are shooting bigger bucks than ever before.  They had a bad freeze a while back that nuked the deer pretty good but they have bounced back better than ever.

I flew from Kodiak to my guides cabin with Roland with Seahawk Air. There was 2 other hunting groups with me. We dropped them and their gear at a couple of coves. Each had electric fence setups to keep bears away. Which is what my guide had around his cabin. If anyone is interested in a hunt I am game. I was looking at the cannery as they would take you out in the morning and drop you off and pick you up in the evening.

Yeah run a fence and be bear aware along with all the other precautions and a guy will be just fine. 

If you can convince my wife I need to have diarrhea of the wallet again I'll go with you   though a trip to kodiak without a goat tag seems far less exciting
