Memorial weekend to late?

I hit the woods hard last weekend south of Colville for a couple of days. Saw hens heard gobblers but couldn't get close enough. This is my second season. The first season last year I hunted in Central Wa and saw nothing on public land. I was very excited to Heard and see birds and be able to call a bit. I'm hooked and was thinking of blazing out that way for a Friday -Sunday trip. I'm wondering if the birds will be responsive or pretty quite that late in the season? Thanks Jason

Best time to hunt is now! Hardly anyone else in the woods and the Hens should be setting on eggs.

MHWASH:

The later in the season the more responsive the Toms are. The hens are no longer interested, but the Toms are still fired up. The plus side is you can sleep in. Once the hens go to their eggs, the Toms are more likely to go searching for “lost hens”.

x2. If I had a choice I would go now. I've done really well around this time of the season. I think the hunting generally really slows done the 2nd half of May.  :twocents:

Gobble Doc:

Expect more commotion on Memorial Day. More campers, dogs, people, ATVs, general noise. I would go now if you can.
