Lilac Invitational
« on: May 11, 2019, 05:02:39 PM »
I shot 3rd place today in The Ed Forslof Lilac Invitational in the Bow Hunter Free Style division.
This was a field, Hunter, and animal round. I was shooting in memory of Ed Forslof who passed away a few weeks ago from Cancer. He was 73 years old and one of the founders of the Evergreen Archery Club. My goal was to shoot a 780 and I shot a 774.

Nice job man. You're gonna be ready come September but I have a recollection of seeing your successes with a rifle in hand. Are you switching over? I did several years ago and have not looked back. Too many irresponsible hunters out in modern in my opinion. I will do muzzy as well on the multiseason but try to avoid scoped rifle if I can.

Wow, so sad to hear Ed died, that's two of the most dedicated archers and bowhunters in the state (with Ray Crisp) who have died this year :(  Ed was such a force in the WSAA, he always passed the 'boot' at convention to raise money for NASP or what ever need was most pressing.  I hope the association does something nice for him.

Good shooting by the way, sorry for the hijack.  I loved shooting at Evergreen, it's my favorite course for FITA FIeld ever, and a great time every year!

Ray and Ed were two men who loved to share archery with anyone and did a lot to pave the way. My heart is heavy, but I will always have fond memories of them both.

I just got back into archery last spring. I only hunted turkey last year though with a bow. I got my Tom this year and am hunting everything with my bow this season. I have bow hunted in the past for 5 years, but yes most of my success is from a rifle. I do love archery because it keeps you in the game all year. Shoots are fun and I've placed 4 out of 5 tournaments this year. I just picked up a Hoyt Carbon Defiant Turbo today and got it on out to a hundred.

Cool. Out to a hundred is insanely good. I know a guy up in the Nile who shoots beautifully at 90-100 yards. Its astonishing. I think I need to get my eyes checked again because I just cannot seem to focus on a target past 40 yards. I have always taken shots at less than 40 yards anyway but being able to reach out beyond would be helpful. Good luck this season.
