37XC build
« on: July 05, 2019, 06:00:54 PM »
First component of the build got picked up today.
Savage 112 target magnum in 338 lapua.  I was going to sell this barrel but I just couldn’t help but play with it.  Loaded up a preasure test with h1000 and 300 gr bergers. Found a nice node at 2935.  I’ll play with that till she levels out.  The target accu trigger is nice. Set at 1.5lbs for now,  may lighten it up a bit more.  Brake definitely tames the recoil, was like shooting a 308

my thoughts too. Had a slight crater of the firing pin but nice round conners and no ejector swipe. Bolt opens with one finger. 2975 has slightly stiff bolt lift and I backed off

Using magneto speed so I trust the speed

Not sure what was up with my v3 yesterday day but could not duplicate that load today.  Speeds where all over with es of 45. Dropped down to 94gr h1000 and 2816fps.  With es of 3 and 1/2 moa.  Hope to stretch it out tomorrow.

Am I reading that right, you dropped down to 94gr H1000?!  And that's with the 300 or 250 gr. Bergers??  Either way and even seated way out, that's well above book max.  With 300's you're almost 10gr above Berger's book max and with 250's your 4gr above their book max.

Yes 300gr and yes 94gr.  No preasure signs what so ever.  With hornady brass no less and cci 250’s and jammed 20k.  I’m comfortable with the load

This scale has never been calibrated so who knows what the charge really weighs. All my cartridges end up over book max

it would be if I hadn’t sent yorke his unithroater back lol. This thing could be taken out quite a bit. Should have my new barrel ready to mount up in a couple months or so.  May just ream this barrel to 33xc since I’ll have the dies and go/gage anyway

94 gr is max on my 3.95 coal 300 gr Lapua but thats with 215 primers and SMK's.  With a slow batch of h1000 and cci's with Bergers I could could squeeze in another grain.

This is where I'm at with H1000 and a 28" tube.   Generally use rl33 or n570 to get up in the 2845-2870 range
